Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing well and having a wonderful week so far.
I've been meaning to show you guys my teeny, tiny master bathroom for a while now, and I
finally got around to taking some pictures of it.
This home was built in 1979. You've seen those bathrooms...the ones right off the bedroom
without a door. Yep, that's mine.
There used to be spindles that went from the top of this half wall up to the ceiling.
The sink and toilet were both black. Yes, I said BLACK...with dark brown tile on the counters.
Can you imagine how dark this space was?
Here's the new sink and faucet we got from Home Depot. The sink is made by Kohler and
the faucet by Delta Faucets.
Remember, I said the toilet used to be black. We had to replace every single door in this house.
There used to be those ugly, flat, dark brown, hollow core doors......you know the ones I'm talking
about from the '70s. The ones with no character whatsoever.
This is actually a before picture of my daughters'/guest bathroom. I didn't take any before pictures
of our master bathroom... it was just too ugly and I was too depressed about it at the time... lol.
I can laugh now, but let me tell you, I wasn't laughing then. ;-)
The cabinets in the before picture of the girls' bathroom are the same cabinets that are in our
bathroom. We painted them white and replaced all the hardware. We got the hardware from...where
else...Home Depot. They're the same knobs and pulls we used in our kitchen remodel. I tried to keep
things consistent throughout the house, so it would have a cohesive feeling.
We bought the light fixture, toilet paper holder, tile, and towel holders all from Home Depot as well.
They loved us there! :-)
Well, that was the drama that was the experience of our master bathroom remodel. I hope I didn't
bore all of you.
Since my bathroom is an all white bathroom, I will be linking up with Kathleen's White Wednesday's
link party. Head on over there to check out all the other fabulous inspiration there is to be had.
Thank you Kathleen of Faded Charm for hosting another fabulous party!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!
'Til next time...
~ Jo :-)

Hi Jo! Well if you think yours is teeny, you should come over and see mine. And I didn't take any before pics either as I want to wipe that memory away forever. Our house was built in the same year and had the same hollow brown doors. If we lived in the same town we would have seen each other every weekend at HD! Well you did a great job with your remodel. It's really pretty.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Shelley
You did a great job on the bathroom Jo! I love that it's all white! (of course!! lol) I love the old door(is it old?) & door knob~
ReplyDeleteI just picked up some old doors today for our upstairs.....so when in "stall" mode go shopping.....ha ha....found em on craigslist of course!
Thanks for coming by today!
xo,
Shellagh
Your bathroom turned out beautifully. You should be very proud of the job that you have done.
ReplyDeleteWe live at the Home Depot too. lol
Wow! You've completely transformed that space. So light and bright! My master bath is still a "before." It's one of the few spaces that we've done nothing with since we moved in. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAmy
You have done a wonderful transformation on this bathroom. I do remember all those 70's things. We had all that in our other house. I love how you made it all white and bright and love your accessories.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful space...your home is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom is so lovely and soothing. The white is very calming. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy Summer!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet bathroom! Everything looks so pretty~!
ReplyDeleteI think that your bathroom is very elegant in its simplicity. White was the perfect choice to make it appear so much larger. Lovely! Annie
ReplyDeleteyou know it's bad when the employees at home depot greet you by your first names! I know what you mean excactly about living there. The bathroom is small but not that small. I think in comparison to the ones they make these days it is considered small.
ReplyDeleteWe had an even smaller bathroom and when you were sitting on the john, your knees hit the door as it closed. Way back then they were made for serious business and serious business only!!
No spa treatment. You did a great job.
Oh Jo...I love all the white! and your panel doors with the beautiful knobs are so neat!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
Debbie@houseatthelake
Hi Jo,
ReplyDeleteWonderful transformation! It doesn't seem that small at all... I have the exact same sink - small world!
Amanda
Beautiful! You have done a wonderful job transforming the bathroom. I really like the mirror above the sink. I love how you decorated it all in white and the hardware on the cabinet looks like beautiful jewelry!
ReplyDeleteWendy
You did a great job remodeling this bathroom. I think it turned out wonderful! Love that you kept it all white.
ReplyDeletexo, Sherry
I absolutely adore white bathrooms. I love what you did. It is just perfect:). Your house is amazing:).
ReplyDelete~Julia
Well, it's beautiful of course!
ReplyDeleteThe palette you've chosen is perfect for the space.
What a great job.
Suzan
What a wonderful white bathroom! Love the shabby candlesticks.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Charo
It might be little in size but certainly not in beauty. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYou have to tell me what's in your salt shakers in the corner.
I can't believe this little beauty was black and brown!! I don't think it's small I think it's very quaint and charming!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a transformation. I love what you did~ looks so updated and fresh!
ReplyDeleteBeth
Great job on your bathroom remodel. The all white theme probably makes it seem bigger and I love the square shape of your new sink.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along today.
Kathlen
You did a wonderful job transforming "YUK" to a room of serene charm. My master looked so much like your daughter's "before" photo that it's scary. I remodeled it but that was many years ago and it needs it again. This is quite an inspiration to me. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou and your husband did a wonderful job. It's just gorgeous. And I have to confess - our little 1951 cottage does not have a master bath. Really wish it had one but we kind of bought this house for the yard. At least we have two bathrooms - but one is in the garage. Sounds more strange than it really is. We're trying to get Baby Bee (she's 9) move out there so 3 people aren't sharing one bathroom. I'm sure by the time she's a teenager she'll be begging for it! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely bathroom. But I have to say if you think that is teeny tiny - you should see mine. Older houses like mine very rarely have a bathroom as big as yours! Yours looks pretty spacious to me.
ReplyDeleteomg i think i just fell in love with yur bathroom! its soo quante! i could just imagine waking up and walking into it and just being like ahhh :) lol LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteThat is one beautiful teeny tiny bathroom! Love what you did with it.

Yep the 70's everything was olive green and orange! Love the calm, serene bathroom you've created - ours is tiny too - but, you do with what you've got - and you did well
ReplyDeleteKathy
Jo... Lovin' the bathroom... I can only imagine what you had before... I once lived in house built in the 70's and they had this gray carpet in the guest bathroom with a sunken black tub... we ended up moving before remodel... but I've been there... so I know what you were feeling!! GREAT transformation!! Beautiful!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom is gorgeous and not at all small. Reminds me of my master bathroom which is smaller and was added sometime in the late 60s, early 70s. We also have no door right off the master bedroom with the spindles, but instead of black we got avocado green sinks and toilet. :) We haven't remodeled our bathroom yet. It's on the to do list though. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job on your bathroom!! It's beautiful! Happy WW! Hope your day is a lovely one!
ReplyDeleteBack Porch Blessings,
Rebecca
Though small, your bathroom looks like a very peaceful spot. It has a spa feeling to it. I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jo,
ReplyDeleteYou have absolutely infused your home with character! When I saw the bathroom door Iwas estimating the house to be about 70 years old or so, so to read that it was a '70's house...well, you have done a dynamic job of changing it! The master bath is really gorgeous, I love the fact that it is all white. I love all white baths, they are so relaxing. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's blog party. I made some things to show!
Hugs, Cindy S
Your bathroom is darling! I have 2 bathrooms that I think are even smaller than yours. You have inspired me to do a little makeover on them!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I'm a new follower!
~Charity
Your bathroom is wonderful !! i really like it !!! Jo.....so nice decorated !!! have a lovely summer evening....hugs from me...Ria...
ReplyDeleteSmall bath rooms.... what were builders thinking?
ReplyDeleteWe used to joke that we paid home Depots monthly electric bill as we spent so much money there when we were remodeling our last house!
Your bathroom looks wonderful!
Hugz, Dolly
Beautiful, I love how crisp and white the bathroom is. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a Transformation from what you described.... Love the New White Bathroom ~ Cozy & Elegant
ReplyDeleteIt may be small, but it looks huge--very bright and airy! Nice work ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me know that there is a problem. I have changed the settings, but it still is only showing my blog link intermittently. I have asked my husband to help me with this.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Cindy S
Hi Jo, I looove your bathroom makeover, we have a tiny bathroom and also redid it just awhile ago, so I know how you must be feeling,(just wonderful, right), because it still makes me smile to go in and look at ours...Yours is just perfect!!! Debbie @ Cottage Hann~me~Downs
ReplyDeleteI love white bathrooms. Awwww so clean and fresh feeling.
ReplyDeleteMelissa
I love how white and light and airy it turned out:-)
ReplyDeleteTracey
What a classic look, it's just beautiful and have to say, so charming!!
ReplyDeleteHappy I found your blog!
Nancy
Beautiful and so clean looking! I have to ask, what is in your salt shakers? Love the look!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely space, Jo! So very beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW! I think this bathroom is FANTASTIC!
ReplyDeleteEight months ago, my husband and I purchased a house that was built in 1978 and has the open bathroom in the master "suite" too. (WHAT were they thinking when they built those houses?!) I jokingly call it the "Motel 6 bathroom" because it's open like a motel room but it really is no joking matter. Everytime I walk in there I just groan. We are gearing up for a remodel soon. Thanks for sharing and giving me hope our bathroom has potential too.
I love your bathroom. I like the idea of the toilet behind a door. I really want that door.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and I think I have a master bathroom smaller than yours. My house was built in 1969, so you know its small. I like the frame around your mirror.
I am glad I found your blog, enjoyed it.
Betsy
You did a great job!!! It is so fresh green and pretty now.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn
This is beautiful and you know I'm loving that mirror!!
