Hello people! Hope you're all having a nice week so far.
We had a little hail storm blow through here the other day. Luckily, It blew out of here as quickly as
it blew in.. We also got some much needed rain, as it was starting to dry up in the garden. The
next day, however, the sun came out pleasant as could be, and the birds were singing their melodious
songs -- it was so peaceful. We have rain coming again this weekend, which is a good thing, because
we don't want to have to start watering the garden this early in the season. ;-)
If there is one thing in the garden that I get most excited about, I would have to say it's my roses. I
love them! They start blooming in mid Spring and don't stop until late Fall, providing me with
countless bouquets throughout the growing season. These pictures are just a few I've taken for
various posts last year since I started my blog last May.

I purchased most of the roses in my garden (and all of the roses in this post) from the David Austin
Rose Catalog. You can find more information about David Austin Roses here.
After seeing this picture (below), I realized how glad I was that I painted my dining table top white.:)

Your roses are splendidly beautiful! I miss mine as well. I think I'll plant more this year. I have red, but I think I'd love this shade of pink you have. What I'm excited about are the Eastern Bluebirds. I saw them yesterday scouting out my birdhouses!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I also think that you roses are splendid! And this shade of pink are very soft, perfect with your decoration!
ReplyDeleteHere in the North of Italy, today is a wonderful day: the sun shines and the atmosphere is clear! It seems almost spring!
Usually, in february it is still cold, sometimes it snows... but it may happen that the cold will be back!
Meanwhile I enjoy the good weather!
Have you a nice week end
Monica
Lovely;o)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!!!
Hugs Malin
Your Austins look great! Heritage is one of my favorite roses. Lovely arrangements too, very romantic.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, your roses are sooo pretty!... I must say, roses are my very favorite too... they remind me so much of my grandmothers, and my mama who always had rose gardens started from little cuttings under fruit jars... can't wait for Spring either!... and thank you for sharing about the beautiful Etsy shop... will head on over there... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful, it makes me really want to try to grow some. My thumb isn't very green, and we always have beetles so bad in the summer, but I'm really enjoying yours!
ReplyDeletexo,
Debra

ReplyDelete:)
Love your roses and all the pictures you share of your garden! Can't wait until Spring as well, hope you stay dry this next week of wet weather :)
ReplyDeleteYOu are lucky to have such a long blooming season for your roses. In Boston we have June until maybe October...so a short 4 or 5 months at best. I love the David Austin roses most. Your roses are lovely. Do they come bare root and you just plant them and do you get blooms the first season too?
ReplyDeleteAfter admiring both your David Austin roses and Trina's over at A Country Farmhouse, I'm quite certain that I *need* some in the worst possible way. How can a girl claim to be a hopeless romantic if she doesn't have any roses growing in her flower bed?
ReplyDeleteCute stuff!
ReplyDeleteI love the roses!! Great photos!!!
Like every blog out there - COME ON SPRING!
Lovely Roses! I am so envious that you get to just go out to your garden and pick bouqets!! Someday I'll have a garden...

ReplyDeleteYour roses are gorgeous and I can't wait for mine either. I love my old fashioned roses that have been here for years...possibly centuries. They smell heavenly, but sure don't last long on the bushes.
ReplyDeleteBlessings~

These pics are so pretty and make me dream of spring!
ReplyDeletethanks you so much for sharing your roses. I had 75 David Austen roses but lost most of them in a freak freeze year before last in November, (got down to 10 degrees here and they were not dormant yet). That about broke my heart. I collected them over 10 years, each year I would treat myself to a few of his latest releases. So I begin again. Have you tried Hyde Hall, it is a fabulous one, it gets to about 6 feet easily and blooms non-stop profusely thru the spring, summer and fall.
ReplyDeleteDear Jo,
ReplyDeletenow I have the time to write...such alot to do these days and in the evenings I am tooo tired to do anything ...just laying on the couch...

Your roses are beautiful. I love the pretty pink colors. Can't wait to see what your garden grows this spring. I wish I could grow roses...but it is just not the right climate. But after visiting your blog, I am off to Fresh Market to pick up some pink roses!! Have a great Saturday and thanks for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!! Love the pink and white!!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend!
~michelle~
Jo your roses are just beautiful! I love, love, love David Austin roses and have about three in the garden, but they don't do well because of my garden being a zone 4 garden. But I adore their scent and wish they could thrive here.
ReplyDeleteI loved your previous post and the lovely picture of the tulips.
I can always count on a dose of beauty when visiting your home.
sending hugs
Hi Jo,
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for roses either. I bought one bare root rose the other day but would love to have some of those delicate colored ones like you have. Where did you get them? You know we've got a Home Goods opening here next week, right? Maybe we could get together sometime and go? Have a great weekend.
Amanda
I can see why you'd be excited about your Roses, they are magnificent and I love your arrangements.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Post... you know, I'm not sure, but I believe that stream running by the Home was constructed and not natural... which makes it all the more amazing really that it looks so natural and effortless!

Hi Jo,
ReplyDeleteYour roses are so gorgeous and must make you very happy to have them gracing your beautiful home and garden. David Austin roses are really my favourite, the old fashioned roses with a lovely fragrance.
I only wish our soil here was better, we have clay and because we live near the sea, they do not do well. sigh. Thanks for sharing Jimmy Pickles Etsy shop.
Have a wonderful weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
Hi Jo - gorgeous roses!!
ReplyDeleteHey, I just saw your blog mentioned in the new Flea Market Style magazine I bought today.
Huge congrats!!
- Susan
Hi Jo - How I wish I could grow roses here in the Valley - particularly David Austin's. I have tried a number of times in the past but the high rainfall and high humidity just seems to play havoc with them. You have inspired me however to give it another try. I will wait until after our wet season is finished and the temperatures start getting a bit cooler. Yours are just beautiful! ;)Sharyne
ReplyDeleteOh I just love pink roses!
ReplyDeleteIf you are a dog lover please visit my Metis Linens blog as Andrea and I are having a dog themed giveaway.
Love your roses, I can if I close my eyes almost feel their fragrance.
ReplyDeleteLove

ReplyDeleteThank you :)
hugs
Manni

ReplyDeleteand your photos!

happy sunday!
Rosa
Ok....you HAD to go and make me totally jealous that you've been working outside in your beautiful garden, didn't you, Jo?? lolol! Your roses are so incredibly beautiful. They must really love that CA sunshine! Mine always look so pitiful by the end of the summer due to humidity and Jap beetles munching on them. Anyway, I'm glad to be able to chat with you again after being w/out a computer for 10 days!!!! Somebody (could it be me....?) dropped it..... Have a wonderful week, sweetie!

XO
I had coffee with Janelle at Sweet Bee Cottage and I was asking her if she had visited Good Goods. She said that she hadn't been there but mentioned you blogged about it. I had to come visit your blog. I am so happy to see that you can grow David Austin roses in your area. I was wanting to buy some but wasn't sure if it was too hot here (Clovis). So nice to "meet" you and your beautiful blog!
