GOODBYE...

I'm not very good at goodbyes, so I'll just say it... I've decided to stop blogging.  It has become
something that is much too time consuming for me.  I started my blog almost one year ago because I
have a passion for decorating my home and creating a beautiful country garden, and I thought it
would be something fun to try.  I had no idea what I was doing or what it really meant to have a
blog.  I didn't realize the amount of time that was involved in having a blog.  While it has been a lot of
fun "meeting" so many like-minded people and learning that I have a new passion for photography,
I've found that I don't have the time anymore for the very things my blog is about.  I think that pretty
much says it all.  Told ya I'm not very good at goodbyes. ;-)

I'll leave you with a few of my favorite photos.  I hope you enjoy them, too.

Take care everyone.  I wish you all the best.  :-)

xoxo ~ Jo

ADDENDUM:  Thank you all so much for your beautiful and supportive comments on my
decision to stop blogging!!  It was rather surprising and overwhleming to me.  It saddens me a
little to know that this post will have received the most comments out of ALL of the posts I've done
on my blog... aside from giveaways... even more than many of the posts that I had put much effort
into making as good as I possibly could...  It also tells me that I made the right decision.
Much love and best wishes to all of you!  xoxo ~ Jo

ADDENDUM 2:  Thank you to Donna from Funky Junk Interiors for her dear farewell post to
meYou touched my heart, girl... truly and dearly. ♥  Thank you also to those of you who are
coming over from Donna's blog to leave a goodbye comment, but I have turned off my
comments for this post... just can't take anymore.  Take care everyone!  :)

  3. I completely understand your decision.
It does take a lot of time and effort and I am sure you will be very missed but you must do what is best for you and not for all out here in blogland.
    Best of luck to you!
Thanks for sharing some great photos.

Please don't close down the blog! I would still love to come back and take a look every now and then of your beautiful house and photos.

  7. I understand. I wonder how you gals that post so often have the time because even what I do (and the lurking I do) takes up SO much time and I end up not getting anything done. I will miss you, but do leave the blog open so we can look at your pretty photos. And, of course, should you decide later to come back...

Hugs and lots of heartfelt thanks for the smiles,
    Judy

  8. I have been in your shoes. I had another blog that I did for almost 3 years and I finally gave it up (it was not a home decor blog.) It just ran it's course and it took up too much time because I agonized over every post and photo. The "All That Jazz Vintage" blog I am doing now is more manageable for me, I am still finding balance with it. But there are times that the computer is an unhealthy addiction for me (like right now, I need to be in bed! ;-)
I wish you the best and that you can find happiness and joy in doing the things you love so much. You are so creative and your photos are lovely.
    Blessings,

  9. Thank you for sharing yourself and talents and gifts with us!

It is important to listen to what you know you need the best.

Good for you for honoring that!

Good luck wherever you chose to go.

    Here's a quote from a Nov.17th 2010 post I wrote.

    Summarizing Chieko N. Okazaki,
Only you know your circumstances, your energy level, the needs of your children, and the emotional demands of your obligations. Be wise during intensive seasons of you life.
Don't compare yourself to others-nearly always this will make you despondent.
Don't accept somebody else's interpretation of how you should be spending your time. Make the best decision you can and evaluate it to see how it works.

  12. Oh no... I always feel such a loss with a post like this, yet I completely understand.

Just know, blogging can open alot of doors to opportunity if you'd like to 'do something' with your decorating talents. For that reason alone, I hope you keep your blog online. You never know who you'll hear from. Ask me how I know!

Will be thinking of you and I do commend you on your choice. It's a difficult one!

    All the best Jo!

  44. Oh Jo sweetie, I am sad to read about your leaving blogging. I'm sure you thought long and hard about this decision. I can certainly understand though. Blogging does take a lot of time. And life should always of course come first - I can't believe bloggers were blogging about interiors & such the day we all heard about the earthquake.. blogging was the last thing I felt like doing. I, myself have recently gotten over that self-inflicted darn pressure thing and I'm scaling back a lot and I'm feeling comfortable with only posting 1x a week now. I know that passion is in you - and you may want to return to share and socialize with like minds; definitely keep your little corner here open. :) I will miss you and I wish you the best. Thank you for always being nice to me; I appreciate that and will remember that. Know I am are here for you are support your decision. You will truly be missed. Hugs!

I really didn't want to read this post once I read the title! It's odd though, I've been thinking about the same thing-it does take a lot of time and committment and family and your real life should always come first. I'm really sad though...visiting you has always been for me like visiting a good friend. Not just because I love your decorating and your home...I just felt connected. You are such a thoughtful and sweet gal with a whole lot of talent and inspiration ~ I hope you aren't a total stranger but more so, I hope everything you do is happy and wonderful! 61. Nooooooooooo. Say it isn't so?!! I've just found you, and you are one of my favorite blogs. I always look for new posts from you, and enjoy getting updates from you. It has been so nice "meeting" you Jo. I really, really don't want you to quit! I do understand how you feel, though, and why you would want to quit blogging. I have debated over and over in my head whether I should keep blogging over not. It is very time consuming, and often I will wonder whether anyone really cares about what I am doing in my home. But then I will get a sweet comment from someone, or someone will thank me for inspiring them, and I just can't quit!
I will miss you, Jo. If you ever decide to start up a blog again, I will be right there with you!! But really, I hope you won't completely quit blogging. I don't want to see another of my favorite bloggers leave. Please stay?

  101. I'm back again Jo. I am sad about your decision. I hope you are OK. I told my hubs and son about you and your blog and how I admired you and your success that you were having with it....it just is hitting me hard that you cannot blog. I think you are trying to make life simpler for yourself and your family, and I respect that. I also hope you will leave the door open to do a "pop-in" every now and then. Really gonna miss you Jo!

  105. What a sad post. I totally understand what you're saying - I've only been at blogging for about 4 months and already I have times when I feel sapped. I really don't know what all went into your decision, but, what if you would make a promise to yourself to post just a couple times a month? I think we'd all still come back to look at your beautiful photos and patiently look forward to an occasional post now and then. Just an idea! Whatever your decision - please know you will be missed. The blogging community is such a great network of wonderful people. Your absence will be felt greatly. God's blessings to you in the future! -Nan

  107. Jo, I saw this late last night when you fist posted, but I was on my iPhone and didn't leave a comment. So I'm back tonight to chime in with the 100+ before me. I'll miss you! I just recently discovered your blog and became a follower. I can certainly relate. It is an amazing amount of time and effort to keep up with a blog and all that goes along with it. Very best wishes to you. Enjoy your home and garden! ~ Sarah

  111. Jo, I will really miss hearing from you both on your beautiful blog and in your kind comments. I have so enjoyed reading each and every post and getting a glimpse at your beautiful home. Selfishly, I wish you'd keep going. But for you, I understand that blogging is fun but not worth it if it gets in the way of what's really important- your family, friends and life with them. I know we would all love it if you would keep your blog up so we could at least come back for a visit every now and again.

I wish you the very best! May God continue to bless you and your family!

  112. Hi Jo, It's your Nor-Cal friend from Turlock. I understand where you are coming from. I think a lot of us bloggers are feeling the pressure. It's funny, because I thought I was the only one! I feel like I'm a writer for a newspaper sometimes. You have to have a story or no one will buy your paper! I wish you luck and happiness. Your home is beautiful, your talent is incredible and your words will be missed, Marcia

  115. Bye Jo. I'm so sorry I didn't visit you enough. I find it so hard to keep up with everything in blogland and I've certainly had thoughts of closing mine down. There are some negatives to blogging and sometimes I want to leave it all behind! Most of the time I feel like I just don't have anything interesting to share. So, I understand completely and really admire you for your decision. Rachaelxx

  119. I have had this same feeling about my blog - remember this post?

    http://a-cottage-in-the-woods.blogspot.com/2010/10/how-do-you-find-balance.html

I read everyone's kind comments & instead of deleting my blog, I started to blog at a more gentle pace. I don't post as often, and I don't worry about visiting everyone ALL the time - I simply can't.

If we cannot get you to reconsider, then know how very much you will be missed and that we wish you & yours much joy.

  121. Hi Jo Jo!!!

I am sorry I every told you to "Get Back" Jo jo get back!! Our little inside story to the beatles song "Get back Jo Jo"

You need not take me so seriously, LOL!!!
I hope it is not forever :(
I found myself pondering over the same feelings, do I stay or leave?
I felt I would miss all of you who faithfully follow, who hang on to every word you say, who laugh with you, cry with you, rebirth new ideas with you and encourage all things good, and pure with you.

Jo, you are good, and pure, and have a beautiful way of putting your ideas, thoughts, and designs to words, and beautiful photo's. You will truly be missed, and if perhaps you get a second wind, and just decide to regroup yourself maybe you will find yourself able to squeeze in a post now, and then.

Perhaps we could get use to you posting once a month, or every other month if we are forced to :)

I hope we see you soon girl! and if not blessings to you, and your new journey.

    Much love!
    xoxo

  123. I read your addendum - I don't know why I came back again, but I did.
It is sad that your goodbye post garnered the most comments, except maybe the give aways - how typical that is about us as people in general - we speak up at the last, or when there is something to be gained.
I stopped commenting on give aways unless it was something I truly would love to have. I believe it's a waste of spirit to ask for something I don't honestly want and my winning could take it away from someone it would mean the world to.
When I have a give away on my own blog I never mention it in the first part of the blog - that way only the people who come regularly know about it - not to be selfish, but rather, to be relevant.
I blog because I think better out loud. And because I love to write. It amazes me that people come to see what I have written and while I am grateful for their opinions and thoughts about whatever I might be nattering about, I blog for me. When the time comes that I no longer need it I will stop. I think that is where you are now, and you have shared so much.
I think your blog was wonderful and I enjoyed my visits.

I have a blog I will likely stop one day. I have readers. Bt, I with they were commentors. It wears thin to post day after day to perhaps get one comment. Like you are talking to a void.

Your photos are lovely. Thank you for sharing what you had for the time that was right for you. And now, go spend your time filling your heart with what moves you deeply. Your photos can be a legacy bloggers will stumble on and enjoy for years!

  137. Leave it to me to stumble upon something I love the very day it is going away. A day late to a "Limited Edition" that's me.

But enough about me, this is about YOU and I want to say I commend you for seeing what matters to you most and making it a priority again.

You know you can leave this blog open and just stop in from time to time ... I'm just enabling, er, sayin' ...

  139. Ohhh Jo!

    so said to read this.
I'm running my blog for 5!! years now, yes it takes time and of course I had more than one time the thougts to stop it. BUT I' still here, still blogging.
Take a break, take the time you need to. Because nobody says you have to blog every day or every three days. Just blog, when you really have the wish to do so.
And when there is no other time to visit and comment on other blogs - because that takes most of the time - it will also be alright.
Believe me, as I said, I'm doing this for near 5 years now ;-)
